Punjab Govt Enforces Dress Code for Teachers in Public Schools

Published by

The School Education Department Punjab has introduced a mandatory dress code for teachers in all government schools across Punjab, effective February 23, 2026.

Under the newly issued notification, all teachers must wear a black gown during teaching hours to maintain professionalism and uniformity in public educational institutions.

Key Dress Code Guidelines

  • Black gown mandatory for all teachers during teaching hours
  • Male teachers: simple shalwar kameez or pants and shirt
  • Female teachers: decent and modest attire
  • Footwear: closed shoes or appropriate sandals required

School heads have been made responsible for ensuring daily compliance with the dress code.
District-level chief executive officers (CEOs) have also been directed to strictly monitor implementation across public schools.

Officials say the measure aims to promote a professional, dignified, and disciplined environment in government educational institutions throughout Punjab.
