Punjab Govt to Revise 11th Class Syllabus After Complaints
The Punjab government has announced plans to revise the 11th-grade syllabus following widespread complaints from students and teachers about excessive content and factual errors. The move comes shortly after similar changes were made to the ninth-grade curriculum earlier this year.
In 2025, Punjab introduced a new syllabus for both ninth and eleventh grades as part of its education reform initiative. However, the eleventh-grade textbooks reportedly contained complex material and multiple inaccuracies, leading to demands from educators and students for immediate revisions.
According to sources, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has set up special committees to review, refine, and reduce the syllabus. The committees are now preparing recommendations aimed at simplifying the curriculum and ensuring accuracy in educational content.
An education department official shared:
“The government is committed to improving the quality of education and making the curriculum more balanced, practical, and student-friendly.”
The preliminary recommendations for the ninth-grade syllabus reduction have already been finalized, and an official notification for both grades is expected in the first week of November.
These reforms are part of Punjab’s broader effort to enhance learning standards and align the curriculum with modern educational needs.
