Education authorities in Punjab have approved 34 new administrative and academic measures for government schoolsfor the 2026–27 academic session, aimed at improving teaching standards, school management, and student enrollment.
Under the new guidelines, government schools will be required to raise donations to support operational expenses. Schools will also establish a Zakat Bank to help deserving students and meet school-related needs. In addition, donor boards will be displayed to acknowledge contributors.
Authorities also emphasized enhanced security measures, directing schools to ensure guards or gatekeepers remain at entrances during school hours while metal detectors must remain functional.
Schools have been instructed to set up book banks where surplus textbooks from various classes will be collected and managed by a designated teacher serving as the Book Bank In-charge.
To boost enrollment, officials announced a province-wide admissions campaign targeting at least a seven percent increase in student admissions. Teachers will receive admission targets, while schools will display banners and brochures at school gates and surrounding areas and coordinate with local representatives and feeder schools.
The meeting also confirmed that School-Based Assessment (SBA) will continue during school hours. After assessments, marking centers will be established where teachers will check exam papers and upload results regularly.
As part of efforts to improve classroom environments, classrooms will be formally assigned to teachers, and before-and-after presentations of classroom decoration will be prepared.
Authorities also introduced strict discipline rules, including a complete ban on mobile phone use by teachers during school hours. Teachers will deposit their phones at the school office, while only the headteacher and junior clerk will be allowed to keep their phones during duty hours.
Students will be required to attend school in full uniform, and those without proper uniforms will not be allowed to enter the premises.
Officials further directed that teachers cannot leave the station without approved leave, and any absence must be immediately reported and recorded.
The new measures aim to improve academic standards, strengthen school discipline, and enhance management practices in government schools across the province.
