The Higher Education Department Punjab has extended the application deadline for Phase 2 of the Punjab Laptop Scheme, giving students more time to apply for the initiative aimed at improving access to digital learning tools.
According to the department, students can now submit their applications online until March 20. Authorities clarified that applications for the scheme will only be accepted through the official online system.
Officials said that a total of 131,805 applications have already been received for Phase 2 of the program, reflecting strong interest among students across the province.
Under the scheme, students from public and private universities are eligible to apply. Those enrolled in federally chartered institutions as well as Allama Iqbal Open University can also submit applications under the program.
The initiative has been designed to empower young people by providing access to modern technology and reducing the digital divide in the education sector.
Launched under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, the scheme aims to equip students with laptops to support online learning, research, freelancing, and other digital activities.
Officials added that laptops will be distributed to eligible students based on defined criteria and merit to help them benefit from educational and digital opportunities.
