The Punjab government has expanded its e-challan system to Faisalabad, marking another step toward digital traffic management across the province. The initiative aims to ensure transparent, tech-driven enforcement and improve road safety through smart surveillance.
After successful implementation in Lahore and Rawalpindi, the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) continues to digitize traffic enforcement. The system leverages real-time monitoring and vehicle registration data to curb traffic violations through automated challans.
According to the PSCA, the Excise and Taxation Department has fully integrated Faisalabad’s vehicle registration data with the Safe City system. The new mechanism will automatically issue fines to offenders for violations such as signal jumping, wrong-way driving, and riding without helmets.
“The e-challan system ensures fair and transparent traffic enforcement while promoting responsible driving behavior,” said a PSCA spokesperson.
Over 1,400 surveillance cameras have been installed throughout Faisalabad to capture violations and forward the evidence to the PSCA control room. The challans will then be delivered directly to violators’ home addresses, minimizing corruption and manual errors.
Officials emphasized that the system also allows citizens to check and pay challans online via the PSCA’s web portal and mobile app. The authority plans to extend the system to other major cities soon, making Punjab a pioneer in digital traffic law enforcement in Pakistan.
“With this system, we’re combining technology and accountability to make roads safer,” said an official from the Traffic Police Faisalabad.
