The government of Punjab has introduced a new online e-stamp system, ending the use of traditional security stamp papers as part of major digital reforms in the province’s stamping process.
The initiative has been launched under the Board of Revenue Punjab, allowing citizens to pay stamp duty and obtain stamp papers completely online without visiting banks or government offices.
Under the new system, people can obtain e-stamps through the official government portal from home. Payments can also be made through a mobile application, and after OTP verification, the e-stamp is issued instantly. The document can then be downloaded and printed on ordinary white paper.
Officials from the Punjab Land Records Authority said the digital system will significantly improve transparency, efficiency, and service delivery, while also helping eliminate the circulation of fake or illegal stamp papers.
Through the online portal, citizens will be able to obtain stamp papers of all values, making the process simpler and more secure. Authorities believe the reform will streamline government services and reduce unnecessary visits to banks and offices.
Previously, individuals were required to visit banks or government vendors to purchase stamp papers, pay the required duty in cash or through bank checks, and then receive physical security stamp papers. With the introduction of e-stamping, these steps can now be completed digitally from home, saving time and improving convenience for the public.
The move is part of the provincial government’s broader push to digitize public services and enhance transparency in administrative processes.
