Punjab Launches Teacher Verification & Licensing Program

The Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training & Assessment Authority (PECTAA) has announced the launch of a province-wide Teacher Verification Program starting November 2025, aimed at verifying teachers’ credentials and issuing official teaching licenses to ensure education quality across Punjab.

This initiative comes amid growing concerns over fake degrees and unqualified teaching staff in both public and private schools. By introducing a formal verification and licensing system, Punjab aims to raise professional teaching standards and create a transparent education framework.

The program will be conducted in two phases:

Phase	Description
Phase 1 (Nov 2025)	Teachers will upload scanned copies of their academic, professional, and identity documents  including Matric to Master’s degrees, B.Ed./M.Ed. certifications, CNIC/B-Form, and experience letters  via the official PECTAA portal.
Phase 2	Physical verification will follow for incomplete or suspicious cases. Verified teachers will then receive an official teaching license or certification from PECTAA.

PECTAA will also create a centralized digital database of verified teachers, helping with education planning, training, and policy formulation.

A PECTAA spokesperson stated:

“This program will enhance transparency in the education sector and ensure that only qualified and verified teachers are entrusted with shaping our students’ futures.”

Instructions for Teachers

Teachers are advised to:

• Use only the official PECTAA portal for uploading documents.
• Avoid third-party assistance or unofficial agents.
• Keep clear scanned copies of all relevant credentials ready.
• Attend awareness sessions organized by district education offices.
• Failure to complete verification may affect promotions or continued employment, making participation mandatory for both government and private teachers.

The initiative is a landmark step toward professionalizing the teaching workforce and building trust in Punjab’s education system, ensuring every classroom is led by a qualified, verified educator.
