Punjab Police has taken strict disciplinary action against social media misuse within the force. Lahore Police dismissed two constables from service after they recorded a TikTok video while on duty. The incident highlights a growing intolerance for unprofessional conduct on digital platforms by uniformed officials.
Constables Shahid and Usman, stationed at the “Model Town” police station, filmed a video inside the official premises. The clip quickly went viral on the internet. However, the online attention brought severe consequences.
An official inquiry confirmed that the officers were in uniform during the recording. Senior officers termed the behaviour unprofessional and a serious violation of the Police Order. Consequently, Punjab Police removed both men from service and filed a formal dismissal report at the “Model Town” station.
A police spokesperson emphasised the need for decorum. He stated that police stations are not places for social media performances. Furthermore, he warned that any future misconduct would lead to similar strict departmental actions.
In a separate but related development, the police also acted against digital misconduct involving sensitive content. Authorities registered an FIR against Constable Muhammad Aqeel Noor. He served as a computer operator at the “SDPO Muslim Town Circle” office.
Officials accused Aqeel of running a social media account that shared controversial material. This included posts against the government, state institutions, and content linked to a banned outfit. A technical audit confirmed that Aqeel operated the account personally.
Police have taken action under Section 155-C of the Police Order at the “Gulshan-e-Iqbal” police station. Senior officers reiterated that the force will not allow members to damage the reputation of state institutions online. Further legal action is expected to follow.
