Punjab has officially revised the 2026 matric and intermediate exam dates, shifting the entire board examination cycle to after Ramadan and Eid. The decision marks a major change from the previously issued schedule, ensuring a more comfortable academic environment for students during the holy month.
Earlier, the Punjab Education Department had already notified the 2026 exam dates, with matric papers set for March 3 and intermediate exams from May 5. However, after reviewing concerns regarding Ramadan preparation and student workload, authorities opted to adjust the calendar.
Announcing the update, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that both matric and intermediate exams will now be conducted after Ramadan.
He stated,
“The examinations will be held after Ramadan and Eid to allow students adequate comfort, focus, and preparation time.”
According to the revised plan:
Matric exams are expected to begin around March 24, while intermediate exams will follow shortly afterward.
The new timeline is intended to prevent academic pressure during fasting days and provide a smoother examination experience for students across the province.
