Punjab Revenue Authority Collects Rs66.41 Billion in Q1, Up 28%
In a major fiscal achievement, the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has collected Rs66.41 billion in tax revenue during the first quarter of FY 2025–26, reflecting a 28% growth compared to Rs51.98 billion in the same period last year. The authority also gathered Rs1.7 billion under the Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess, showcasing strong revenue performance without introducing any new taxes.
| Quarter (FY) | Revenue Collected (Rs Billion) | Growth (%) |
| Q1 2024–25 | 51.98 | 20% |
| Q1 2025–26 | 66.41 | 28% |
A PRA spokesperson said,
“The impressive growth reflects our focus on enforcement, transparency, and digital reforms rather than imposing new taxes.”
To expand the tax net, the PRA has launched a crackdown on unregistered service providers, deploying enforcement teams for field surveys and issuing notices to non-compliant businesses. The move aligns with the authority’s broader strategy to broaden the tax base and strengthen economic documentation.
Additionally, a simplified online registration system has been rolled out, requiring service providers to link their operations with the E-IMS system and submit monthly sales tax returns. Businesses that fail to comply by the month’s end face penalties and legal action.
Officials noted that these reforms aim to enhance business transparency, promote tax compliance, and ensure sustainable revenue growth across Punjab.
