Punjab Revises Public School Summer Timings

LAHORE: The Punjab government has revised public school summer timings, reducing operational hours by 30 minutes to help students and staff cope with extreme temperatures. The School Education Department (SED) has issued an official notification confirming that the changes will be implemented from April 7 to October 15.

As per the revised schedule, single-shift schools will now operate from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, while Friday classes will end at 11:30 AM. Previously, these schools remained open until 1:30 PM during summer.

For double-shift schools, the morning shift will run from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM on weekdays and 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Fridays. The evening shift will operate from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, it will be held between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM.

The District Education Authority (DEA) CEOs have been directed to strictly enforce the updated summer school schedule. Institutions failing to comply may face legal consequences.

Additionally, schools have been granted a 15-minute flexibility in opening and closing times for boys’ and girls’ schools, depending on specific circumstances. The move aims to ensure a more comfortable learning environment during the hot summer months.
