The Punjab government has rolled out Phase 2 of the Chief Minister’s Laptop Distribution Scheme, aiming to equip more students across the province with modern technology. Around 60,000 students are expected to receive laptops in this phase, while the distribution from Phase 1 continues for the remaining recipients. The initiative, covering Lahore and other districts, seeks to support students in education and research.
The first phase of the program targeted 100,000 students, and authorities are continuing its distribution alongside the launch of Phase 2. In total, the scheme plans to provide 160,000 laptops to eligible students, according to officials.
Applications for the scheme are still open through the Higher Education Department (HED) portal, allowing students to register and participate in the initiative. Authorities emphasized that the program is part of a broader effort to promote learning and provide students with tools that can enhance academic performance.
Education experts say initiatives like these can help bridge the digital gap, especially for students in smaller towns and rural areas who may not have easy access to laptops and other technology. While laptops alone cannot solve all educational challenges, they offer a valuable step toward equal opportunity and better research capabilities.
The government has encouraged students to stay informed about the distribution schedule and to complete their applications promptly to benefit from the scheme.
