The Punjab Education Department has introduced new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These rules aim to streamline Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR) cases for teachers.
According to a report by 24News, officials seek to eliminate delays and errors in the system. Consequently, the department has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for incomplete applications.
Under the revised system, officials will instantly reject incomplete LPR cases. Therefore, every application must include a comprehensive checklist. If a case lacks the required documents, the department will return it without review.
Furthermore, the new instructions demand formal verification. The District Education Officer (DEO) or the relevant Chief Executive Officer (CEO) must verify all supporting documents. Additionally, these officers must provide specific and clear recommendations. Vague endorsements are no longer acceptable.
Teachers applying for LPR must now attach a specific set of documents. To ensure acceptance, applicants must submit full documents, including the following:
- Service book
- Appointment orders
- Promotion notifications
- Salary slips
- Complete record of leaves taken throughout their career
The department is also tightening the leash on administrative delays. District officers will now face strict accountability if they mishandle or delay Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR) cases. These measures ensure a smoother transition for teachers approaching retirement.
