Punjab Winter Vacations Extension Rejected by Education Minister

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has issued a strict warning to private schools operating during the officially announced winter vacations, stating that violations of government orders will not be tolerated. The move comes amid confusion caused by misleading reports about changes in the holiday schedule.

In an official statement, the minister said the Education Department will take action against any private school found open during the notified vacation period. He also warned that Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Education in districts where such complaints emerge will face action, holding local authorities responsible for enforcement.

The warning follows widespread confusion after social media posts claimed that winter vacations might be extended or revised. Addressing these rumors earlier, Rana Sikandar Hayat clarified that the Punjab government will not extend winter holidays and confirmed that all schools and colleges will reopen on January 12, 2026.

The education minister urged parents, students, and teachers to rely only on official government announcements and avoid spreading unverified information. He stressed that compliance with official schedules is mandatory for both public and private educational institutions.
