The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has issued a warning after multiple reports surfaced of fraudulent e-challan text messages being sent from unauthorized numbers.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, scammers are sending fake e-challan notifications from the number 8070 to mislead citizens. Official e-challan messages are sent exclusively from the Punjab government’s designated number, 9915.
The spokesperson clarified that Safe City officials never ask for cash payments, bank details, or card information via SMS. Citizens are advised not to click on suspicious links or pay through unverified websites.
Authentic e-challan messages always include full details of the traffic violation, including time, location, and nature of the offense.
Authorities urged the public to stay vigilant and immediately report suspicious messages to the Emergency Helpline 15 or the FIA Cyber Crime Wing.
