Punjab’s digital licence system has gone offline, leaving thousands of applicants stuck as they try to obtain or renew their driving licences. The official DLIMS Punjab portal, which handles all online licence services, has remained inaccessible for hours, creating uncertainty for residents who depend on the platform.
The outage appeared without warning. As of now, officials have not explained why the website is down or when it will return. Users attempting to access the portal only see an error screen, with no alternative option provided.
DLIMS Punjab serves as the province’s central hub for digital driving-licence services. The system normally allows residents to apply for a learner’s licence, renew or upgrade existing licences, verify licence status, download e-licenses, and track applications. All of these functions are unavailable during the outage.
Because the portal is offline, new applications cannot be submitted, renewals cannot be processed, and e-licences cannot be downloaded. Many users say this disruption may delay their plans, especially those whose licences are close to expiry or who need a learner’s permit urgently.
Authorities have long presented DLIMS as a faster alternative to paperwork-heavy office visits. The platform was designed to reduce crowds, speed up verification, and give users real-time updates without requiring travel.
However, the sudden downtime has removed that convenience and pushed citizens back into a waiting cycle. Until officials share an explanation or restore the system, residents remain in limbo, unsure when Punjab’s digital licence services will return to normal.
