The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has recorded a 35% rise in revenue collection during the first half of the current fiscal year, reflecting the impact of wide-ranging administrative and digital reforms. According to official data, the authority collected Rs149.5 billion between July and December, compared to Rs112.1 billion in the same period last year, marking a significant improvement in provincial revenue performance.

Officials attributed the sharp increase to modernisation and transparency-focused reforms introduced within the PRA. These measures streamlined internal processes, improved tax compliance, and enhanced efficiency across the collection system.

A PRA spokesperson stated, “The reform agenda has strengthened enforcement while making compliance easier, resulting in sustained revenue growth.”

Over the past few years, the Punjab government has prioritised tax system reforms to reduce leakages and widen the tax net. The PRA’s latest performance indicates that these efforts are beginning to deliver results. Higher provincial revenues are expected to support development projects, social welfare initiatives, and overall financial stability across Punjab.
