RAM Prices Spike Globally, 64GB DDR5 Now as Expensive as PS5 Pro

Global RAM prices have surged by up to 500%, and SSD prices have jumped 100%, driven by high AI infrastructure demand and supply shortages. Cyber PowerPC in the U.S. and U.K. confirmed price hikes for memory modules starting December 2025, while high end 64GB DDR5 kits now cost as much as a PlayStation 5 Pro.

Retailers are limiting sales to prevent hoarding, with Micro Center using spot pricing and Framework temporarily halting standalone RAM sales. Asian markets are also affected, as Taiwanese distributors require DRAM purchases alongside motherboards, and Japanese stores restrict memory sales.

Experts warn that prices may remain elevated into 2026 due to ongoing AI related demand. Manufacturers like Asus and MSI are buying in the spot market to meet supply needs, while consumers are advised to plan purchases carefully amid the global memory shortage.
