The federal government has appointed Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa as Director General Immigration and Passports following his removal as Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority(CDA).
According to an official notification issued by the Establishment Division, Randhawa, a BS-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, has been transferred to the Interior and Narcotics Control Division with immediate effect and until further orders.
The development comes days after a major administrative reshuffle in the federal capital, during which Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf was appointed as the new Chief Commissioner Islamabad.
Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf, also a Grade-20 PAS officer, previously served as Secretary Communications and Works in the Punjab government and has held key administrative roles as Deputy Commissioner in Faisalabad and Mandi Bahauddin. He is also likely to assume the additional charge of CDA chairman, overseeing Islamabad’s urban planning and municipal administration.
The latest transfer formally concludes Randhawa’s tenure in Islamabad while placing him in charge of the country’s immigration and passport system at the federal level.
