The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi has postponed matriculation examinations scheduled for April 10 (Friday) amid heightened security arrangements in the federal capital during ongoing diplomatic engagements between the United States and Iran.
According to an official statement, exams at 64 examination centres in Rawalpindi city have been deferred. However, examinations in other districts of the Rawalpindi Division will proceed as per the previously announced schedule.
The postponed papers include compulsory Urdu and Geography, with new dates to be announced later. Authorities assured that students will be informed well in advance regarding the revised schedule.
The decision comes as district administrations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi declared local holidays on April 9 and 10to facilitate strict security measures for the high-level talks.
Officials stated that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place, involving multiple law enforcement agencies. A hotel located within Islamabad’s Red Zone has been reserved for the visiting delegations, with the area placed under heightened security.
The move aims to ensure public safety and smooth conduct of the sensitive diplomatic discussions, while minimizing disruptions across the twin cities.
