Rawalpindi Schools to Open at 7:45 AM Amid Katchery Chowk Construction

The Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi has revised school timings for all educational institutions in the Cantt and City subdivisions, moving the opening time from 8:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. to ease traffic congestion caused by ongoing Katchery Chowk construction work.

According to an official notification issued on November 5, 2025, the new schedule 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. will remain in effect until further notice. The move comes as part of the administration’s efforts to manage heavy traffic and ensure the safety of students and commuters during peak morning hours.

A district official said,

“The construction activity has significantly slowed traffic in the area, and adjusting school hours is a temporary yet essential step to maintain smooth flow and minimize inconvenience.”

The notification has been circulated to senior provincial officials, including the Chief Secretary of Punjab, the Secretary to the Chief Minister, and the Higher and School Education Departments, ensuring coordinated implementation across all affected institutions.

The construction at Katchery Chowk  a major traffic junction is part of the Punjab government’s urban infrastructure upgrade plan, aimed at easing congestion and improving road connectivity in the city once completed.
