Rawalpindi Simplifies Driving Licence Process for Motorcyclists

The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has introduced a new system allowing motorcyclists to obtain learner and permanent driving licences in a single day, replacing the previous 42-day waiting period.

Previously, motorcyclists faced long delays for testing and licence issuance, causing inconvenience for daily commuters. The new initiative aims to streamline licensing, improve traffic compliance, and enhance public convenience across Rawalpindi.

Under the revised system, applicants can take written and practical tests on the same day. Those who pass are immediately issued permanent licences.

CTO Farhan Aslam said,

“This reform is part of our broader effort to improve licensing efficiency and ensure riders comply with traffic laws.”

Since the launch, over 20,500 motorcycle licences were issued last month alone. Authorities reminded citizens that driving without a valid licence is a legal offence and urged timely applications.

Implementation and Technology:

The process is carried out across 13 CTP centres using Punjab Government’s online licensing system, which streamlines applications, testing, and issuance. Awareness campaigns are also underway to educate riders on traffic compliance and proper documentation.

The reform aligns with Punjab’s vision for efficient and citizen-friendly traffic management, reducing delays and promoting lawful driving practices while supporting urban mobility.
