Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (RCTP) have intensified their crackdown on vehicles and motorcycles using “applied for”, fake, or non-standard number plates. This move aims to ensure road safety and proper vehicle registration across the city.
During February 2026 alone, traffic police issued 1,755 challans to violators, highlighting the scale of the problem. Vehicles found with improper plates are being impounded and will only be released after owners complete proper registration.
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam emphasized that a number plate is the legal identity of a vehicle. He warned that using counterfeit or fabricated plates is a serious violation of the law. Special checkpoints have been established at major city entry and exit points, and mobile enforcement teams are patrolling different areas to catch offenders.
This strict enforcement follows rising concerns over traffic safety and accountability, as unregistered or illegally marked vehicles are often linked to accidents and unlawful activities.
Police Measures and Public Guidance
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam said, “A number plate serves as the legal identity of a vehicle. Concealing it or using fake plates is not acceptable and will result in strict action.”
Rawalpindi traffic authorities continue to prioritize law enforcement and public safety. Timely vehicle registration and adherence to number plate regulations are crucial for avoiding fines and legal complications.
