Resident Evil Requiem: Leon Returns to RPD & PS5 Pro Support Confirmed

Published by

Yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play finally gave fans a deep look at Resident Evil Requiem. Capcom used the February 12 event to drop a massive trailer ahead of the game’s February 27 launch. The footage confirms the return of series icon Leon S. Kennedy to the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD). Furthermore, the game will officially support the PS5 Pro. Resident Evil Requiem arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2.

Leon Kennedy Returns to RPD in Resident Evil Requiem

The latest trailer confirms fan speculation about Leon’s involvement. He joins the first-revealed protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, in a crumbling Raccoon City. The duo must navigate the iconic Raccoon City Police Department (RPD). While the building shows a decaying interior, it maintains the tension fans expect from the franchise.

However, Leon faces a dire situation. Brief snippets show Leon with an infected hand. He and Grace discuss the villain, Victor Gideon, and the “Elpis infection”. Leon’s condition has sparked fears that this story could be his final appearance. Despite these fears, dialogue mentions a “former T-virus researcher”. This hint suggests a potential cure remains possible.

Mysterious Faces and New Threats

The trailer introduces a mysterious young blonde woman speaking to Leon over the radio. Fans immediately speculated that this character is Sherry Birkin. Since her father, William Birkin, was a T-virus researcher, her return to Raccoon City fits the narrative. A team-up between Grace, Leon, and Sherry would bridge the gap between the new story and classic franchise entries.

Grace and Leon are currently racing against time. They are pursued by Victor Gideon, though his specific motives for hunting Grace remain unclear. The “Elpis infection” seems to be the primary threat driving the plot forward in this instalment.

Next-Gen Performance on PS5 Pro

Capcom also confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem features PS5 Pro support. While the developer did not list specific technical upgrades, the hardware typically offers enhanced graphics and smoother performance. Owners of the new console can expect the best possible visual experience when exploring the horrors of the RPD.

The wait is almost over. Resident Evil Requiem brings the horror back to Raccoon City on February 27. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch approaches.
