Rilee Rossouw has become the first overseas cricketer to reach 100 matches in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history, marking a significant milestone in the competition.
The South African batter has played across ten consecutive PSL editions, representing Multan Sultans for four seasons and Quetta Gladiators for six campaigns.
Rossouw has accumulated 2,366 runs in 99 matches, including three centuries and 11 fifties, establishing himself as one of the most consistent performers of league.
It is worth noting that Rilee Rossouw is currently representing Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing eleventh edition of the league, scoring 79 runs in four matches at an average of 19.75.
Overall, the experienced batter has played 29 matches for South Africa, scoring 767 runs at an average of 34.86 and a strike rate of 159.79, including two centuries and three half-centuries.
Last week, while comparing the PSL with the Indian Premier League, he said the IPL carries Bollywood influence, resembling a movie spectacle rather than pure cricket.
Rossouw contrasted the Pakistan Super League with the IPL, highlighting that PSL focuses directly on cricket competition without external entertainment elements.
He explained that the IPL is a very long tournament, while the PSL offers shorter duration with higher intensity and more competitive matches overall.
Talking about the match, Peshawar Zalmi have won the toss and opted to field first against Quetta Gladiators in the 23rd match of PSL at the National Bank Stadium.
Zalmi enter the fixture unbeaten after six matches, winning five, while their clash against Islamabad United in Lahore was abandoned due to heavy rain.
The 2017 champions currently lead the standings with nine points, holding the summit position after consistent performances across the tournament’s opening fixtures and weather-affected encounters.
Gladiators began their campaign with a 14-run defeat against Karachi Kings before securing their first victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen in the subsequent fixture.
The 2019 champions then suffered consecutive defeats against Islamabad United and Multan Sultans, before eventually defeating RawalPindiz convincingly by 61 runs to regain momentum.
