Rumors Suggest Sony May Be Developing A Less Powerful Handheld Version Of The Ps6

Recent online rumors suggest that Sony might be working on a portable version of its next-generation console, the PlayStation 6 (PS6). The information comes from a user known as KeplerL2 on the gaming forum NeoGaf, who has previously shared hardware-related leaks.

According to the user, Sony could be planning to release two PS6 models, a standard home console and a portable handheld version. The handheld device is rumored to use a 15W system-on-a-chip (SoC) built on a 3nm process, which would place it below the performance level of the current PlayStation 5. For reference, the PS5 has a thermal design power (TDP) of around 200W.

These claims also mention that the portable PS6 might launch alongside the main console, potentially around 2027 or 2028. The rumored device is said to build upon the design philosophy of the PlayStation Portal, although it is unclear whether it will support cloud streaming, remote play, or native gaming.

While KeplerL2 has previously shared accurate hardware leaks such as early details about the PS5 Pro and AMD chipsets. Sony has not confirmed any official details about the PS6 or a portable version of the console.
