Sahibzada Farhan has been nominated for the Player of the Tournament award at the T20 World Cup 2026, after an outstanding individual performance despite early team elimination.
The star opener finished the tournament with 383 runs in six innings, setting a record for the highest aggregate in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup to date.
The right-handed batter became the first player in T20 World Cup history to score two centuries in one tournament, achieving these against Sri Lanka and Namibia.
Although Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals, his consistent performance at the top of the batting order offered a rare highlight in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the national side.
England all-rounder Will Jacks has also been shortlisted for the award after producing key contributions that helped guide his team to the semi-finals of the tournament.
Jacks scored 226 runs at an impressive strike rate of 176.56, while also claiming nine wickets, including crucial breakthroughs during the Super Eight matches against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
South Africa’s pacer Lungi Ngidi earned a nomination after leading the Proteas’ bowling attack throughout the competition, taking 12 wickets in seven matches with consistently effective spells.
Ngidi’s teammate Aiden Markram was also shortlisted after scoring three half-centuries in eight matches, producing unbeaten innings of 86 against New Zealand and West Indies during successful run-chases.
New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra impressed selectors with his multi-dimensional performance, scoring 128 runs and taking 11 wickets, including a decisive four for 27 against Sri Lanka in the Super Eight stage.
Fellow Kiwi Tim Seifert made a significant impact at the top of the order, scoring 274 runs across eight matches and anchoring several crucial innings during New Zealand’s march to the final.
Seifert’s 58 in the semi-final, combined with a 117-run opening partnership with Finn Allen, helped guide the Black Caps to successfully chase 170 against South Africa in a high-stakes match.
Despite the United States’ early exit in the group stage, pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk emerged as one of the tournament’s leading bowlers, taking 13 wickets in four matches with an economy rate of 6.80.
India’s Sanju Samson rounds out the nominations after delivering match-winning performances in the knockout stage, including an unbeaten 97 against West Indies and 89 in the semi-final against England.
The winner of the Player of the Tournament award will be revealed following the final between England and India, scheduled to take place on Sunday, concluding the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
