Samsung is preparing to introduce its highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone, but a new database listing suggests it might have a very limited release. The device, potentially named the Galaxy G Fold, could launch exclusively in South Korea and China—mirroring the restricted availability of last year’s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
A recent listing in the GSMA (GSM Association) database reveals two model numbers: SM-F968N (South Korea) and SM-F9680 (China). This hints at a regional launch, with no confirmation of a global release. The device is internally codenamed Q7M, possibly to prevent early leaks about its official name and specifications.
Samsung has been at the forefront of foldable technology, and this new tri-fold device is expected to take innovation further. Patent filings suggest a dual-inner folding design, which differs from Huawei’s outward-folding approach. This could enhance the phone’s durability, as the main screen would be protected when folded. Additionally, reports indicate S Pen support, with a dedicated slot for the stylus.
Historically, Samsung’s devices appear in the GSMA database about six to seven months before launch, suggesting a possible release in October 2025. However, plans could change depending on market conditions and production timelines.
For now, global Samsung fans will have to wait and see if the tri-fold smartphone will expand beyond its initial markets.
