Saudi Arabia has taken a major step in protecting families and young audiences by blocking more than 300,000 inappropriate Roblox games under new digital media reforms. The move strengthens accountability and ensures online content aligns with Saudi values.
The action follows the launch of fresh media regulation guidelines by the General Authority for Media Regulation (GAMR). The Ministry of Media highlighted that these measures aim to promote responsible digital content and safeguard children from harmful material.
At a press conference in Riyadh, Minister of Media Salman Al Dossary confirmed Roblox’s cooperation with Saudi authorities. The platform has disabled voice and text chat and restricted flagged games until better monitoring tools are deployed.
He emphasized: “Our children are a trust entrusted to us,” urging parents to supervise online activity and use parental controls.
GAMR has also introduced clear content standards for creators, while holding educational workshops to raise awareness about the new rules.
Al Dossary stressed that “Combating harmful content that contradicts societal values requires decisive action,” noting that public rejection of harmful content is key: “What is ignored eventually fades away.”
Al Dossary called the reforms part of a “historic journey” in Saudi media, pointing to the Kingdom’s expanding global role and commitment to positive, value-driven content.
