Saudi Arabia is preparing to unveil its operational strategy for the upcoming Hajj season, with a focus on integrating technology.
The formal announcement is expected on Thursday, corresponding to 10 Dhu Al-Qa’dah, 1446 AH, in alignment with Vision 2030.
This year’s strategy, described as the most comprehensive since the latest regulatory updates, introduces a pilgrim-centric model that emphasizes accessibility, spiritual enrichment, and seamless navigation. It aims to accommodate millions of worshippers by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), smart platforms, and interactive services across key holy sites.
At the heart of the initiative is “Manarah 2,” an AI-powered, multilingual robot designed to assist pilgrims with real-time information and guidance. The enhanced robot can interact in various languages, making it easier for pilgrims from different cultural backgrounds to receive support without barriers.
Additional tech features include:
Interactive Multilingual Smart Screens
These touch-enabled screens will be installed at key locations in Mecca and Medina. They will provide pilgrims with immediate assistance and answers to their queries.
Digital Qur’an Platform
A global online resource promoting Qur’anic recitation and learning for pilgrims throughout their journey.
Surah Al-Fatiha Mobile App
This app supports multiple languages. It aims to deepen understanding of one of the Qur’an’s most essential chapters and enhance pilgrims’ spiritual reflections.
The operational plan also introduces specialized religious, intellectual, and educational initiatives to cater to the diverse backgrounds of those attending Hajj. These programs aim to provide clarity and support for rituals, helping pilgrims perform their duties in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, emphasized that the updated strategy is rooted in compassion and tranquility. He also highlighted its focus on high-quality service. He reiterated that the ultimate goal is to enrich the pilgrim experience spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually.
This digital-first approach reflects the Kingdom’s broader ambition under Vision 2030 to modernize religious services using locally developed technologies. The initiative not only enhances pilgrim satisfaction but also promotes Islamic values of moderation and guidance through innovative tools.
In 2025, millions will prepare for the sacred pilgrimage. Saudi Arabia is deploying AI and smart systems. This marks a major shift in religious services. The focus is on spiritual engagement, digital empowerment, as well as cultural inclusivity. The plan sets a new global benchmark for large-scale religious gatherings.
