Sazgar Engineering Works Limited will start bookings for its Tank 500 Hi4-T 4X4 2.0L Turbo AT models from January 26, the company announced in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
The vehicles will be offered in both plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variants. Sazgar said that prices and booking details would be shared through electronic channels and social media later today.
A PHEV combines a gasoline engine with a larger battery, allowing the vehicle to run on electricity alone for a certain distance. Once the battery is depleted, it operates like a standard hybrid, using both the engine and electric motor. HEVs, in contrast, use a combination of engine and electric power continuously for better fuel efficiency.
This announcement comes as part of Sazgar’s continued efforts to expand into the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) segment, which it first outlined in September 2025. At the time, the company said it aimed to launch the Tank 500 and Cannon PHEV models by March 31, 2026.
The auto sector in Pakistan has been showing gradual signs of recovery, giving assemblers the opportunity to expand their offerings across petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicle categories. Sazgar has emphasized its commitment to introducing modern NEVs equipped with advanced technology, in line with the government’s policy framework.
