Educational institutions in Islamabad will remain closed for four days, following the announcement of local holidays in the federal capital on April 9 and 10. With Thursday and Friday declared local holidays by the Islamabad administration, and Saturday and Sunday already falling on the weekend, students in the capital will get an extended four-day break.
The decision was notified by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad, stating that the holidays apply within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory. While schools and colleges will remain closed, essential government offices and public service departments will continue to operate.
Although the official notification does not explicitly mention educational institutions, the closure effectively impacts schools and colleges. The move coincides with heightened administrative and security arrangements in Islamabad ahead of expected high-level diplomatic activity, including talks reportedly hosted between the United States and Iranfollowing a two-week ceasefire. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the ceasefire and invited both parties to hold talks in Islamabad, underscoring the city’s key diplomatic role at a sensitive regional moment.
