The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has announced plans to introduce new training programs focused on financial technology (fintech) and modern market skills as part of a broader effort to strengthen Pakistan’s financial sector workforce.
Speaking about the initiative, SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said the Capital Market Institute will be reorganized and enhanced to better address the evolving needs of Pakistan’s financial markets and institutions.
According to Dr. Sidhu, the institute will launch a range of new courses aligned with current industry demands, including specialized programs covering fintech, digital finance, and modern financial practices. The initiative aims to equip students and young professionals with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing financial landscape.
As part of the modernization effort, the institute will also introduce online learning opportunities, making financial education and professional training more accessible to aspiring professionals across the country.
The SECP chairman said the revamped institute will be developed into a national center for talent development, helping produce a skilled workforce capable of supporting the growth of Pakistan’s capital markets and financial sector.
He emphasized that future training programs should be designed according to the requirements of capital markets, regulatory bodies, and financial institutions to ensure graduates possess relevant and practical expertise.
Dr. Sidhu also directed SECP and the Institute of Financial Markets of Pakistan to prepare a comprehensive reform roadmap with clear objectives, implementation timelines, and measurable outcomes to guide the transformation process.
Highlighting the importance of human capital development, the SECP chairman stated that a highly skilled workforce is critical for enhancing the efficiency, stability, and competitiveness of Pakistan’s financial markets.
The initiative is expected to support the country’s growing fintech ecosystem while creating new opportunities for young professionals seeking careers in finance, technology, capital markets, and digital financial services.
