ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a 188% salary surge for ministers and ministers of state through a presidential ordinance, aligning their pay with parliament members.
President Asif Ali Zardari signed the Federal Ministers and Ministers of State Salary and Benefits Amendment Ordinance 2025 on Sunday.
The substantial salary increase is effective from January 1, 2025.
Through this presidential ordinance, the federal government brought the salaries of federal ministers and ministers of state on par with those of assembly members. The new fixed salary for both roles is now Rs519,000 per month.
Previously, federal ministers earned Rs200,000, while ministers of state received Rs180,000. With the 188% hike approved by the federal government, both categories will now draw the enhanced salary of Rs519,000.
