The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has scheduled a crucial meeting on May 2, 2025, at the Prime Minister’s Office to review updates to the PakTok app and seek a comprehensive briefing on the Pak-Emigrant Management Framework (PEMF).
The PakTok app, aimed at better serving overseas Pakistanis, will be a major focus alongside discussions on digital integration efforts.
The meeting, outlined in a notice issued by SIFC, seeks to streamline digital coordination among key stakeholders and assess the progress made under Phase II of PEMF, which targets improved services for Pakistani expatriates. Technical documentation, including Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), will be presented by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BE&OE), and the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).
As part of the agenda, the council will also finalize design amendments for the PakTok app and address concerns raised by the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF). Developed under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD), the PakTok app serves as a digital bridge connecting overseas Pakistanis to essential government services.
The PakTok app offers a wide array of features, such as OPF membership registration, welfare services for recovering dues from foreign employers, free transportation of deceased bodies back to Pakistan, and financial assistance including scholarships in OPF-run schools and colleges.
Additionally, the app boasts a robust 24/7 complaint management system, enabling expatriates and their families to report issues and track resolutions efficiently. It also delivers real-time updates on OPF initiatives, policies, and events, making government services more transparent and accessible for the diaspora community.
The review meeting comes weeks after the federal government announced an interest-free loan scheme for overseas workers under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, in collaboration with the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and SIFC.
The initiative aims to provide financial support to young individuals aspiring to work abroad by offering interest-free loans of up to Rs1 million. This assistance is designed to cover the essential costs of visa processing, travel, and initial settlement expenses.
