Sindh Boards to Launch E-Marking System for Exams

Sindh education boards have decided to introduce an e-marking system for matriculation examinations from 2026, with two to three papers of Classes 9 and 10 to be checked digitally in a major move toward transparency and technology driven assessment.

According to official, the submission of examination forms for Classes 9 and 10 across Sindh is expected to start soon, while authorities have confirmed that the examination system will undergo key changes from next year. Under the revised plan, selected papers in the annual matric exams will be evaluated through an electronic marking system.

To facilitate the transition, the Federal Board has already handed over e-marking software to the Department of Universities and Boards. Sindh’s examination boards will use this technology during the checking process to improve accuracy, reduce human error, and ensure fair assessment.

Officials said the same e-marking system will also be extended to intermediate level examinations. From 2026, two to three papers of annual intermediate exams across Sindh boards will be assessed digitally, marking a significant shift in the province’s examination framework.

Board officials welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major step toward fairness and transparency. Executive Director of the Inter Board Coordination Committee (IBCC), Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, said both the conduct of examinations and the checking of answer scripts would be managed through IT based e-marking systems.

He added that the transition has already begun, as the Mathematics paper for Classes 9 and 10 was conducted using e-marking in 2025, laying the groundwork for full implementation next year.
