Sindh Enforces Strict Road Safety Measures for Student Transportation

Karachi: Sindh has mandated all schools to enforce strict road safety measures for student transportation. Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah emphasized that both parents and private school administrations must ensure children’s safety by using only transport services that comply with the Sindh Transport Department’s road safety SOPs.

He emphasised that the safety of children while travelling to and from school must be the responsibility of both parents and private school administrations. The minister encouraged them to exclusively utilise transport services that adhere to the road safety standards established by the Sindh Department of Transport.

In order to enhance safety standards, school transporters are required to obtain or renew fitness certificates that include QR codes from the Sindh Transport Department. Shah underscored the importance of parents and school administrations ensuring that drivers possess legitimate credentials and that vehicles satisfy safety standards.

“It is critical to prioritise student road safety,” he said, emphasising worries about overloaded school vans and rigorously barring the transfer of kids who exceed the vehicle’s seating capacity.  Additionally, schools were directed to issue warnings to transporters that did not adhere to safety regulations.

The minister recommended that students be extra cautious when entering and exiting vehicles and adhere to secure roadside procedures. The objective of these measures is to ensure the safety of pupils during their commutes and prevent accidents.
