Sindh’s annual examination system faces a major integrity crisis. Recently, reports of annual papers getting leaked and widespread cheating surfaced from Karachi and Jacobabad. Both 9th and 10th-grade examinations are affected by these leaks.
In Karachi, the 10th-grade Biology paper leaked before the examination even started. Solved answer sheets circulated rapidly through WhatsApp groups and other social media platforms. Consequently, the local administration failed to take action against the responsible individuals. This failure occurred despite an existing ban on mobile phones inside examination halls.
Similarly, the 9th-grade English paper leaked in Jacobabad today. Students utilized modern technology and mobile phones to cheat openly during the session. Furthermore, many unauthorized individuals entered the examination halls freely. This happened despite the imposition of Section 144 in the region. The local administration has not yet tackled the situation effectively.
Disturbing reports suggest that examination monitoring staff are involved in these malpractices. Some sources indicate that individuals are solving papers in exchange for payments. Meanwhile, official inspection teams remained absent from their duties throughout the day. Students are taking advantage of this lack of oversight to use mobile devices without restriction. Annual papers getting leaked, and all these events highlight a significant breakdown in the provincial examination process.
