Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has ordered the introduction of drone surveillance in critical zones and the formation of a dedicated Drone surveillance unit. This step comes as part of a broader effort to strengthen the city’s security, modernize the Special Branch, and counter threats from militancy and sectarian violence.
The meeting, attended by senior police officials including Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho, focused on a detailed review of the city’s security landscape. Officials discussed ongoing threats, preventive strategies, and the deployment of modern tools such as drones, advanced vehicles, and explosive detectors.

Drone Surveillance Unit: A dedicated unit will be formed to monitor sensitive areas using drones whenever required.
Modernizing the Special Branch: The Special Branch will now take a frontline role in counterterrorism efforts, supported by updated intelligence systems.
Intelligence Reports: IRs, especially concerning border areas, will be made more actionable to prevent threats proactively.

Security Audit: A thorough audit of important installations has been ordered, with recommendations for drones, modern vehicles, explosive detectors, and advanced equipment for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
