The Sindh government has announced revised school timings across the province as cold weather continues to grip the region. Under the new schedule, all public and private schools will now start classes at 9:00 am, offering relief to students from harsh early morning temperatures.
According to an official notification issued by the Sindh Education Department, the updated school timings will take effect from Monday and remain in force until January 26. While opening times have been changed, closing hours will remain unchanged for all institutions.
An official from the education department stated, “The decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students as low temperatures persist across Sindh.”
Sindh has been experiencing colder than usual mornings over the past few weeks, particularly affecting young students who commute early. Education authorities said the move is a precautionary step to reduce health risks during the ongoing cold spell.
In contrast, the Punjab government has opted for a tougher approach by extending winter vacations for schools and colleges. Punjab officials cited severe cold conditions and student health concerns as the primary reasons behind keeping educational institutions closed for a longer duration.
