The Sindh Transport Department has initiated strict action against vehicles operating with fake fitness certificates, aiming to enhance road safety and ensure legal compliance across the province. Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has directed authorities to register cases against violators and cancel route permits of vehicles found using counterfeit documents.
Fake fitness certificates have long been used by some transporters to bypass mandatory vehicle inspections. These illegal practices allow unfit and unsafe vehicles to operate on roads, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering public lives. The provincial government has now decided to close this loophole through enforcement and accountability.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon ordered the Provincial Transport Authority to submit a detailed report within three days and instructed officials to take immediate legal action against those involved.
“Using fake fitness certificates is a serious crime and a direct threat to public safety,” Memon said, adding that no individual or transporter would be spared.
He further emphasized that the government is committed to building a safe, transparent, and law-abiding transport system and warned that strict action would be taken without exception.
The crackdown is expected to improve road safety standards across Sindh and discourage illegal practices within the transport sector. Authorities have signaled that inspections and enforcement will continue as part of broader transport reforms.
