Sindh Issues New Winter Rules for Private Schools Banning Mandatory Jackets

The Sindh Education Department has issued new winter rules for private schools across the province, prohibiting them from enforcing jackets of specific colors or designs. The directive, issued under the guidance of Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah, aims to prioritize students’ health, comfort, and financial ease during the colder months.

The Directorate of Private Institutions officially notified that schools must no longer make children wear winter jackets of a particular style, color, or design. Additional Director Rafia Javed stressed that students can wear any warm clothing they prefer, and institutions violating these rules will face strict administrative action.

Education Minister Sardar Shah emphasized,

“Children’s health and comfort must come first during winter. Schools should not pressure parents to spend extra on specific uniform jackets.”

He added that this step reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to student welfare and equitable education policies.

Parents across Sindh complained that schools were forcing them to buy expensive, uniform specific winter jackets for their children, prompting the new rule. Education authorities highlighted that private schools must respect parental choice and ensure students remain warm without additional financial burden.

Authorities now require schools to follow the updated regulations strictly, and they may conduct inspections to ensure compliance. Parents, student representatives, and child welfare advocates have welcomed this move, saying it promotes student comfort and fairness in private education.
