The Sindh government has approved a dedicated one-window facilitation desk for goods transporters at the New Sabzi Mandi in Karachi to streamline permit and documentation processes.
The Transport and Mass Transit Department directed relevant authorities to immediately establish the facility, which will handle route permits and essential regulatory documents for freight vehicles.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the desk will facilitate issuance and renewal of route permits, fitness certificates, and related documents for commercial goods transport vehicles.
He added the initiative forms part of a broader government drive to integrate freight and commercial vehicles into a fully digital and automated service delivery system.
The facilitation desk is expected to become fully operational within the current week, with dedicated staff deployed to assist transporters accessing the new service.
Awareness campaigns, including banners and public notices, will be launched across the area to inform transporters about the availability and purpose of the new facility.
Memon said the government is advancing its vision of digitising public services, with the transport sector identified as a priority area for administrative modernisation and reform.
He stated the desk will reduce the need for transporters to visit multiple government offices, while digital permits and certificates will save significant time and operational cost.
