Strict Traffic Action in Gujranwala Leads to Record Challans

The City Traffic Police in Gujranwala reported a strong enforcement drive throughout 2025, issuing a large number of challans and collecting substantial fines, a move officials say has helped improve road discipline and reduce traffic accidents across the city.

According to official figures, the campaign was carried out under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer Ayesha Butt and covered both inner-city roads and bypass areas. Authorities said stricter checks and continuous monitoring led to better compliance with traffic laws and a visible drop in road mishaps.

Traffic police focused on violations such as riding without helmets, not wearing seatbelts, use of tinted windows, non-standard number plates, unregistered vehicles, underage driving, and driving without a valid license. In serious cases, criminal proceedings were also initiated against vehicle owners. Alongside enforcement, the department issued a significant number of driving licenses during the year, particularly to motorcyclists, to promote legal and safe driving practices.

Officials noted that with a high volume of motorcycles operating in Gujranwala, awareness and enforcement campaigns were necessary to improve safety. Special actions were also taken against one-way violations, smog-related restrictions, illegal parking, and reckless riding, reinforcing the city’s broader road safety strategy.
