Sui Southern Announces Two-Day Gas Suspension Schedule

Published by

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a 48-hour gas suspension for industries and CNG stations starting January 24, aiming to maintain better gas pressure for domestic and commercial users amid rising winter demand.

According to SSGC, the gas supply shutdown will begin at 8:00 AM on January 24 and continue until 8:00 AM on January 26. During this period, all industrial consumers, including captive power plants, and all CNG stations, even those operating on RLNG, will remain without gas supply.

SSGC stated that gas demand increases sharply during winter, putting pressure on the supply network. The temporary suspension is part of the company’s load management strategy to ensure households and commercial users receive maximum possible gas pressure, especially during peak usage hours.

The gas utility clarified that the routine load management schedule for residential and commercial consumers will continue as usual, with pressure management expected daily from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Consumers facing low gas pressure have been advised to contact SSGC’s 24/7 helpline at 1199, where complaint response teams are already on high alert.

Seasonal gas shortages are a recurring issue in Pakistan during winter, particularly in major cities like Karachi. Authorities often restrict gas supply to industrial and CNG sectors to prioritize domestic needs, as household consumption rises due to heating and extended cooking hours during cold weather.
