The facial recognition system is already being used by the authorities to keep track of any wrongdoers but it seems that entertainers have also applied the same tech as well. Recently the popular singer, Taylor Swift used facial recognition system at one of her concerts to detect stalkers.

It seems that people were unaware of the fact that a facial recognition camera was hidden behind the kiosk’s screen which was taking multiple pictures of the people present at the concert. The photos were then transferred to the Nashville-based command post. Once transferred, the images were then cross-checked with the database of singers’ known list of stalkers. The singer decided to do this for her security since last week a fan broke in her home, showered and slept in her (Taylor Swift) bed, furthermore Swift also had to seek a restraining order against another fan who had sent death threats. However, it still raises questions whether the pictures that were taken during the concert would be disposed of or not, since many of the pictures belonged to people who were not aware of this.

Recent trends indicate that facial recognition is becoming increasingly popular around the world since it brings a lot of advantages and security measure with it. A few days ago Microsoft asked the government to regulate and legislate the company’s facial recognition tech, something that people will have mixed opinions about but it shows the direction in which the technology is moving. China, in fact, has implemented this system on a much wider scope as it uses facial recognition system to identify people who have broken the law so that they can be punished.
