Pakistan’s telecom sector gets its first-ever Green Sukuk, a landmark Rs3 billion project launched by Infralectric, a Brillanz Group company. The initiative marks a major step toward sustainable energy solutions and modernization of telecom infrastructure with AI-enabled, low-carbon technologies.
The launch follows the successful completion of Pakistan’s first 25MWh AI-powered Energy Storage-as-a-Service (ESaaS) project, powered by Thunder AI. This development highlights the country’s transition toward advanced energy infrastructure.
The Green Sukuk for the telecom sector introduces a Shariah-compliant, principal-guaranteed financial model designed to modernize telecom towers. According to PhoneWorld, the project will utilize Thunder AI-driven battery storage, significantly reducing diesel consumption by more than 5 million liters annually and cutting 13,500 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to planting 220,000 trees every year.
Bilal Qureshi, CEO of Brillanz Group, called the launch “a historic moment for Pakistan’s digital and energy future.” Fahd Haroon, Minister of State, emphasized that such projects showcase how innovation and collaboration can modernize thousands of telecom towers.
The launch event brought together key industry stakeholders, underlining the importance of sustainable finance and AI-powered solutions in shaping Pakistan’s telecom energy landscape.
