Terraria 1.4.5 ‘Bigger & Boulder’ Is Live! Palworld Collab & 650 New Items

Published by

The wait is finally over. The massive Terraria 1.4.5 update, titled “Bigger & Boulder”, is now live across PC, console, and most mobile platforms. Released as part of the game’s 15th-anniversary celebrations, this update delivers one of the most substantial content drops in years.

Developer Re-Logic has confirmed a global rollout. However, the China mobile version faces a delay. This is due to server migration, localisation reviews, and the upcoming Chinese New Year. Re-Logic is currently working with partners to launch in that region as soon as possible.

A Massive Overhaul to Crafting & Inventory

Re-Logic has significantly improved the player experience with major quality-of-life changes. The item pool now exceeds 6,000 items. Consequently, the developer redesigned the crafting interface to make navigation easier. The new system organises recipes into searchable categories like weapons and furniture. Players can still toggle back to the classic grid layout if they prefer.

Additionally, inventory management is much smoother. Expanded chest integration now allows players to craft using materials directly from nearby chests. You no longer need to move items into your inventory first. Re-Logic stated the goal is to reduce friction so players can focus on exploration and combat.

Multiplayer fans also get a huge upgrade. A new “Spectate” feature allows you to cycle through other players’ perspectives while waiting to respawn, replacing the old countdown timer. Furthermore, housing mechanics are more relaxed. NPCs no longer require a valid room to spawn immediately, which reduces early-game pressure. However, unhoused villagers will retreat at night until you build them a home.

World Seeds & Skyblock Mode

World seeds take centre stage in the “Bigger & Boulder” update. A new “World Seed Menu” makes discovering and selecting special seeds much easier. Ideally, players can now combine seeds to create customised gameplay experiences.

Most notably, the update introduces an official Skyblock seed. This starts players on a small floating island with limited resources, offering entirely new survival dynamics. Other new secret seeds include options for permanent holiday settings, constant rain, and team-based “battle royale” spawns. Some seed combinations even unlock hidden experimental effects.

Terraria Collabs with Palworld & Dead Cells

This update finally delivers the long-awaited crossover content. The Dead Cells collaboration brings weapons, vanity items, and abilities inspired by the action roguelike, all reimagined in Terraria’s signature pixel art.

Meanwhile, the Palworld crossover introduces summonable “Pals”. These creatures function as utility companions rather than just cosmetic pets. For example, the “Digtoise” assists with mining, while other Pals help with gathering and exploration.

In total, Terraria 1.4.5 adds over 650 new items. This includes summoner whips, decorative blocks, and, of course, new boulders that can fall upward or trigger during thunderstorms. The atmosphere also received a boost with new lighting effects, auroras, and visible fish in the water. Finally, the music expands with eight new boss tracks, ensuring every boss now has its own unique theme.
