Punjab: The Punjab School Education Department has decided to abolish thousands of vacant teaching and non-teaching positions that have remained unfilled for the past two years.
A new instruction requires the closure of all Grade 5 to Grade 16 vacant positions throughout every school in the province. The District Education Authorities must compile records of these vacant positions before proceeding with the submission process.
The department implemented this decision after it removed approximately 50,000 teaching posts from the system. The educational institutions across Punjab still manage to operate with many available positions both among teaching and non-teaching staff unfilled. The new initiative works to improve how staff and resources are allocated in the education sector.
The Punjab Education Department recently delivered a revised 2,226 teacher vacancy list to the provincial authorities for anticipated direct recruitment. This list includes positions for headmasters, headmistresses, and subject specialists across various grades. The department has urged the government to expedite the recruitment process to address the ongoing shortage of educators in public schools.
