Meta now lets parents see exactly which accounts their teenagers have blocked on Threads. The company added this feature as the latest expansion of its parental supervision tools for the platform.
Meta first launched Threads parental controls in September 2026, starting with the Asia Pacific region. It has since expanded these tools to all regions globally. The blocked-accounts visibility joins a growing list of oversight features that parents can access through Meta’s Family Center.
The existing parental controls already let parents view how much time their teens spend on Threads each day. Parents can also set daily time limits and block access during specific hours or on select days. A built-in night mode automatically mutes notifications and turns on auto-replies between 10 PM and 7 AM. For teens using multiple devices, these time limits apply across all devices combined.
Parents can additionally control who can tag their teen in posts and restrict which tags their teen can see. Teen accounts on Threads already come with built-in protections by default, including private profiles and content restrictions. Parents of children under 16 can also decide whether their teens can loosen these protections.
The new blocked-accounts feature adds another layer to this system. It shows parents who might be trying to contact their kids or causing problems online. With Threads now reaching an estimated 500 million monthly active users, the platform has become a major space where young people connect with others. That scale also increases the chances of teens encountering unwanted attention from strangers.
This update also comes at a time when Meta faces growing pressure over teen safety across all its platforms. The company previously argued in January 2026 that science does not support outright teen social media bans. Instead, Meta has focused on building supervision tools that give parents direct visibility into their children’s online activity rather than restricting access entirely.
